Damage assessment of different FDM-processed materials adopting Infrared Thermography

The use of components obtained through the additive manufacturing (AM) technique has become increasingly widespread in recent years, playing a central role industrial production, and particular some fields such as automotive, biomedical, aerospace electronics. Among all AM techniques, FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) represents most used printing to produce polymeric composite components, thanks flexible process, low cost diversity materials adopted. aim present work concerns comparison between mechanical properties three plastic printed with (polylactic acid PLA, polyethylene terephthalate glycol-modified PETG Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene ABS) using an Original Prusa i3 MK3S, by varying raster angle 0°, 45° 90° degrees. Infrared Thermography been adopted monitor temperature evolution during static tensile tests assess stress level that can initiate damage within material. Failure analysis was performed correlate behaviour microstructural characteristics materials.
